❝One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way.❞
I love the image this quote evokes and, as we start this new school year, I'm getting ready to help your students peek through the first doors along the Spanish language corridor of life.
Starting in first grade, your students will have Spanish for thirty minutes twice a week. The Spanish program for the lower grades at Montecito Union uses the web based program Rockalingua. This is a music based language program created by a teacher from Spain in the Bay Area. Why Rockalingua? Research has shown that music is one of the best ways to learn a foreign language. Moreover, visual association is a powerful way to learn new vocabulary. The catchy tunes and fun images keep the students engaged and eager to learn. If you visit your student's grade page, you will find links to some of Rockalingua free songs. So start dancing and singing along!
